PhD Admission 2016-17 at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) New Delhi has invited applications for admission to PhD Programme for 2016-17 winter sessions in the discipline of Bio-Technology, English and Education in different University School of Studies (USS).

Eligibility Criteria for PhD Admission

An applicant possessing any one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission to PhD Programme in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

(1) Minimum Eligibility for admission shall be a Master’s Degree (M.Sc./M.A./M.Tech./M.Ed.) OR a post graduate degree approved by Association of Indian Universities/AICTE/ UGC/ NCTE/ or any other equivalent qualification in the relevant field with not less than 55% marks, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST and persons with disability, or as prescribed by UGC from time to time.

(2) Applicants who have cleared a national level examination like CSIR/UGC-NET-JRF/Lecturership, DBTJRF, ICMR-JRF, or equivalent fellowship shall be deemed to have qualified the University’s written test and can appear directly for interview. Applicants who have appeared in the above examinations but are awaiting results may also apply. However, they shall be required to produce a valid documentary evidence of having qualified the examination during the interview for PhD admission.

(3) Foreign nationals who possess the educational qualifications as detailed in sl. no. (1) above, shall apply to the Director of International Affairs on a prescribed proforma, along with the application fee, translated and attested copies of certificates, passport and documents regarding curriculum and marks obtained in the qualifying exam, statement of purpose, research compatibility, financial support, language competency etc.. Applicants will be shortlisted based on the criteria decided by the SRC of the concerned school.

(4) Perspective Research Applicant generally should be less than of 55 years of age on 27th January 2017. A relaxation in the prescribed age beyond 55 years can, however, be recommended by the SRC/BOS with appropriate justification recorded and for final approval by the Vice-Chancellor.

Admission Procedure

Admission Procedure: All the applicants shall have to appear for Research Aptitude Test (RAT) except foreign nationals.

RAT examination will comprise of two sections except for University School of Medicine and Para Medical Health Sciences (USMPMHS) as follows:

Section-I: Maximum 200 marks; Duration 1 hour; Type of Test: General Aptitude Test (GAT) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

Section-II: Maximum 400 marks; Duration 2 hours; Type of Test: Subject Specific Test (SST)

How to Apply?

All the applicants shall have to appear for Research Aptitude Test (RAT) except forgone national

RAT has to be conducted by GGSIP University. Codes for USS/ Subject Specific Discipline and syllabii for different Subject Specific Tests is available on the University Website

Important Dates for PhD Admission

Start date for Receipt of Applications: January 07th 2017

Last date for Receipt of Applications: January 27th 2017 (Friday up to 04.00 pm)

Date of RAT: February 12th 2017 (Sunday)
