Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to the PhD program, whether full time or part time shall have to possess requisite percentage of marks / grade point average in qualifying examination as indicated below:
 
The required minimum qualification for admission to a PhD program shall normally be a Master’s (or) M.Phil Degree from any accredited Indian or Foreign University in the relevant field
 
She/he must have obtained either a minimum of 50% marks or Equivalent Grade in the M.Phil degree or a minimum of 55% marks or Equivalent Grade in the Master’s Degree (for all disciplines except Engineering and Technology); however, overall 60% at all academic levels will be desirable
 
Applicants with M.Tech / M.E./M.S qualification in relevant disciplines with excellent academic record with minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 60% marks and with 60% aggregate in Xth, XIIth and B.Tech/B.E will be considered eligible for admission in PhD program in Engineering and Technology
 
Applicants with MBBS degree or equivalent in relevant discipline with excellent academic record with minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 55% marks may be considered eligible for admission to PhD program in the relevant field
 
For PhD in Law, the applicant should possess Master’s degree in Law with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade or M.Phil in law
 
Applicants with Chartered Accountancy (CA) Qualification from ‘The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’ (ICAI)/ Cost and Works Accountancy of ICWAI/ Company Secretary of ICSI with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade may be considered eligible for admission to PhD program in the relevant field
 
Foreign/ NRI applicants and applicants with a Masters’ degree from a foreign university will be required to submit an equivalence certificate of AIU (Association of Indian Universities) at the time of registration
 
Exemption from Written Exam
 
Candidates who have cleared the NET-JRF/ LS of UGC/ CSIR / ICAR/ ICMR/GATE in last 2 years, shall be exempted from the entrance examination
 
Classification of Applicants:
 
An Indian candidate applying for admission to the PhD. Program shall be classified under any one of the following categories:
 
Sponsored Candidates: Sponsored candidates getting Government / Semi Govt. / Private or other Scholarships/ Fellowships /stipends, who apply for admission through the sponsoring organizations
 
Regular Self – Financed Candidates: students, self- employed or other working / non-working candidates
 
Corporate Research Scholar: Candidates working with reputed organizations in India and having at least five years experience and possessing minimum prescribed academic qualifications
 
Working Faculty other than Amity: Faculty members of other Universities /schools and recognized/ approved institutions/schools in India, possessing minimum prescribed academic qualifications
 
Regular Academic Staff of Amity: Regular academic staff of Department/ Constituent Units of Amity University who are allowed to register for PhD. on part time basis
 
Regular Non-Academic Staff of Amity: Regular member of non-academic staff of the University and its Departments/ Constituent Units who satisfies eligibility qualifications and is allowed to be registered for a part-time PhD. program
 
Amity Research Fellow (ARF): Candidates working under fellowship scheme of Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF)
 
Candidates working as JRF/SRF/RA in Research Projects in Amity University and meeting the eligibility criteria
 
Candidates working as JRF/SRF/RA in Organizations NOT under MoU with Amity University Uttar Pradesh
 
Candidates who are working in reputed Labs under MoU with Amity University Uttar Pradesh.
 
Scholars who are awarded National Fellowships through National Competitive Examinations
 
A foreign national will apply under the foreign candidate category
 
Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) Fellowship:
 
As part of its Nation Building activities, the Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) awards Fellowships to brilliant young researchers and scientists. Fellowships are available in all disciplines and are not restricted in number
 
The candidate must have first class academic record throughout up to Master’s Degree from a recognized college / University. The ASTIF Fellowship will be given to only those candidates who are not getting fellowship from any other agency and those who have shown remarkable progress in research work after joining Amity’s PhD Program
 
Selection process
 
Eligible candidates will be required to undertake PET (PhD. Entrance Test), on the date selected by them. PET will be a computer based test (CBT) followed by an Interview, on the same day
 
Selected candidates will get intimation of their selection through an Online Admission Letter which can be printed from the Admission Micro site. Details regarding payment of fees at the time of admission, date, time and venue for commencement of the academic session will be mentioned in the admission letter
 
Offer of admission will be provisional & valid only for the specific program opted by the candidate as well as for the same academic session. The offer of admission will automatically stand cancelled if the conditions are not fulfilled by the specified time
 
Entrance Test
 
The Entrance Test shall be of one and half hour duration (i.e. 90 minutes) and of 70 marks consisting of 95 objective types of questions. The Entrance Test will have two Sections (administered in one go), as mentioned here under:
 
Section 1 – General– 50 Questions of Master’s level of 0.5 marks each (25 marks)
 
Section 1 shall be common to all the Applicants for testing the General Knowledge & Research Aptitude, covering questions from following area:
 
General Awareness
 
English Language
 
Logical Reasoning
 
Quantitative Analysis
 
Data Analysis and Interpretation
 
Section 2 – Program Specific– 45 Questions of Master’s level of 1 mark each (45 marks)
 
Section 2 shall be Program / Subject Specific as per proposed PhD. program of the applicant. (viz Management, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Physics, Law, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Microbiology, Psychology, English etc) This section shall be divided into two parts – 25 questions shall be from the PhD Program subject & 20 questions from the PhD Program subject / allied subject
