The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara conducts the Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) for Lectureship / Assistant Professor. Currently GSET is conducting test in Twenty Three (23) subjects at Six (6) Examination Centers spread across the Gujarat State. The 11th Gujarat State Eligibility Test will be conducted on 25th September 2016.

GSET Eligibility

Educational Qualification

The aspiring candidate must have Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from an institution recognized by U.G.C. with at least 55% (50% Candidates belonging Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category) marks.

Candidates who have appeared OR are appearing at the qualifying Master’s Degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test.

However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master’s Degree examination or equivalent with prescribed eligible % of marks.

The Ph.D. Degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 % in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55 to 50%) for appearing for GSET. However Candidates shall appear to the GSET in the subject of their post-graduation only.

Note: Candidates possessing post-graduate diploma/certificate course(s), should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their course(s) with Master’s Degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi
Candidates are required to appear for GSET in the subject of their Post Graduation only. In case the subject of a candidate is not included in the list of GSET subjects, the candidates may appear in UGC NET / UGC – CSIR NET which is held twice a year.

Candidates are neither required to send any certificate / documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form to Gujarat State Eligibility Test office, Vadodara. However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by GSET / UGC at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for leagal action.

The candidates who have passed M.Sc.( by Research) are not eligible to appear for the SET Examination. As per the U.G.C. Rules.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST / PH / VH / OBC(Cast Certificate alongwith latest Non – Creamy Layer certificate) category must possess Valid Category Certificate and certificates related to PH / VH. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test . In the event of any ineligibility being detected by GSET / UGC at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for leagal action

Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. The mere fact that Online Application Form and Examinaiton Fee accepted and Hall Ticket issued to a candidate will not imply that GSET Agency has accepted his / her candidature. Their candidature will be deemed final only upon verification of eligibility conditions with reference to the claims made in their application, after the result of GSET Examination. In the event a candidate being found ineligible at any stage for the award due to any reason (including unintentional computer error or printer’s devil etc.), he / she will be declared as not-qualified in GSET Examination.

GSET Agency will not issue any marksheet to qualified / not-qualified candidates. The GSET Agency will issue certificate to the qualifying candidates only on verification of the Eligibility Documents immediately after the result of the GSET Examination.

EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR ASSISTANT PROFESSOR)

Exemption from GSET will be as per decisions taken by the UGC and Government of Gujarat from time to time.

NET/SLET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of assistant professors in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the “University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempt from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.”

The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.

For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Asssistant Professor / Lectureship held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Asssistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Asssistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges belonging to the state from where they have cleared their SET.

Age limits:

There is no upper age limit to apply for GSET Exam.

Syllabus for Paper I

Paper I will be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50) questions. In the event of candidate attempting more than fifty (50) questions, the first fifty (50) questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Syllabus for Paper II

Paper II shall consist of questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each paper will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 compulsory objective type questions of two marks each.

Syllabus for Paper III

Paper III shall consist of questions based on the subjects selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).

There are no negative marks for incorrect answers.

GSET Pattern

GSET exam consists of two session containing three papers i.e Paper IPaper II and Paper III which will be evaluated only if a candidate secure minimum prescribed marks in Paper I and Paper II.

Session – Paper – Marks – Number of Question – Duration

First – I – 100 – 60 out of which 50 question to be attempted – 09.30 A.M. to 10.45 A.M.

First – II – 100 – 50 questions all are compulsory – 11.00 A.M. to 12.15 P.M.

Second – III – 150 – 75 questions all are compulsory – 02.00 P.M. to 4.30 P.M

Minimum Marks to qualify in the Paper I and Paper II will be as given below

How to apply for Gujarat State Eligibility Test?

Aspiring candidates can apply for GSET online through link “REGISTER ONLINE FOR GSET EXAM available on GSET website www.gujaratset.ac.in only.

Before applying Online, the candidates must possess the following the following essential documents

  • Scanned passport (pp) size photograph in JPEG format note more than 100kb,
  • Copy of Bank Challan (fee receipt).
  • Personal Details, Educational Details etc.

The candidates can download the Bank Challan Proforma from the official website of GSET and then deposit the requisite test fee in Corporation Bank within Gujarat State and selected cities of Delhi and Mumbai and follow the instruction to apply.

MODE OF PAYMENT:-

The candidate is expected to Generate Computerized Bank Challan Form in triplicate (Bank Copy, GSET Copy & Candidate’s Copy) as given in the Notification.

All the three copies of the Challan Form have to be submitted in any branch of Corporation Bank, within the Gujarat State and selected cities(Mumbai and Delhi) outside State of Gujarat, along with the necessary Examination fee and the Bank fee of Rs.25/-

Candidates can deposit the requisite fee in Corporation Bank only after 24 hours of downloading the challan from GSET Website and Register online immediately after payment of the fee.

The bank will retain one copy and return two copies of the challan to the candidate.

It is mandatory for the candidate to keep and preserve GSET copy and Candidate’s Copy of the challan with him/her for future reference.

The candidate should note that the printout of online Application Form, bank challan or any other certificate or document is not required to be sent to Gujarat State Eligibility test office, Vadodara before he / she is declared as qualified in the GSET Examinaiton.

After declaration result of GSET Examinaiton, if candidate is declared as qulified, GSET copy of Bank Challan have to be mandatorily submitted along with the printout of online Application Form, Original Hall Ticket and other certificates at the time of document verification at Gujarat State Eligibility test office, Vadodara.

Please note that fee submitted by any other mode like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be rejected.

Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
