Jamshedpur Women’s College is all set to organize a seven-day national workshop on ways to learn the new research methodologies in commerce and management.
The constituent autonomous college of Kolhan University will organize the seven-day workshop from January 21 to 27 for students and scholars to help them learn the new research methodologies in the areas of commerce and management.
Shukla Mahanty, principal, Jamshedpur Women’s College said that research has been an important part of education.
Through the workshop they want students, teachers and even scholars to learn the tools and techniques that is being implemented for research.
The workshop is sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi and will be organised within the college premises. The inaugural session will be attended by N.G. Goswami, advisor, management, CSIR-NML, S.N.L. Das, faculty member, Ranchi University and Father Oswald Mascarenhas, faculty member, XLRI.
Various sessions on research, understanding of research data, concept of hypothesis testing and sample size determination, intellectual property rights and other topics will be discussed by various academicians including Prabal K. Sen and P. Venugopal, faculty members of XLRI.
” It is a very important initiative taken by our college. The workshop is not just meant for academia but also students. We want to promote research based tempor amongst students. Usually students do not take up research but we want to promote in colleges and this would be one of the major steps,” said Deepa Sharan, dean, Department of Commerce, Jamshedpur Women’s College.
It may be noted that Jamshedpur Women’s College was established in 1952 with aim to provide the women of Jamshedpur a platform to shape their careers and lives. With time were the demands of the society and the nation grew and changed. The college, a constituent unit of Kolhan University, has been conferred ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ and ‘Conferment of Autonomous Status’ by University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
