NET workshop at SUK

The Department of Mass Communication of the Shivaji University will conduct a 10-day workshop for National Eligibility Test (NET) aspirants from December 15-24 at the university campus. Ujjwala Barve of the Savitribai Phule Pune University will inaugurate the workshop.

Nisha Pawar Mude the coordinator of the department of mass communication said that experts in the field from different universities across the state will deliver lectures in the workshop. She said that it is mandatory to register for the workshop at the Mass Communication department.

Kolhapur was designated as a NET exam centre by the University Grants Commission (UGC) last year. Earlier, candidates traveled to Pune or Panaji in Goa to give the exam. The decision helped candidates from Kolhapur, Belgaum, Konkan, Sangli and Satara region.

The NET enables candidates to avail the UGC’s Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and makes them eligible for appointment as lecturer in UGC-affiliated universities across the country.

According to Nisha Pawar Mude, Coordinator of the Department of Mass Communication, various experts from the field from different universities across the state will deliver lectures during the workshop.

It is mandatory, according to the official, to pre-register for the workshop at the Mass Communication department.

The Kolhapur city has been designated as the NET examination centre by the University Grants Commission (UGC) from last year only. Earlier the candidates had to travel either to Pune or Panaji in Goa to appear for the exam. The decision has helped candidates from Kolhapur, Belgaum, Konkan, Sangli and Satara region.

The NET enables the candidates to receive the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of the UGC and makes them eligible for being appointed as lecturer in the UGC affiliated universities across the country.
