The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made some changes in the examination timing for the National Eligibility Test (NET) by offering a 30-minute gap between the first paper and the second.
The CBSE will be conducting the NET examination on December 27, for determining eligibility for assistant professor or Junior Research Fellowship, in 89 cities including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchy in Tamil Nadu, in 99 subjects.
The NET exam consists of three papers, first paper intends to assess teaching or research aptitude and the second and third papers will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.
As per the new NET examination schedule, the first paper will be held between 9.30 am and 10.45 am. The second one will be held between 11.15 am and 12.30 pm, and the third one between 2 pm and 4.30 pm.
Earlier, the students have to write the first and second papers of NET examination continuously.
“Giving a time gap between first and second papers in NET is a welcome move. The students will feel better with this time gap between two papers,” said C Pichandy, former general secretary of the Association of University Teachers.
