Notification for the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) – 2016 will be issued on June 22 by Andhra University which is conducting the test. The examination will be on the pattern of UGC’s National Eligibility Test (NET).
Announcing this at a press conference held at Academic Senate Hall here on Saturday, AU Vice Chancellor (in-charge) and Chairman of the steering and monitoring committees of the test E.A. Narayana said that those who get qualified in the APSET or the NET would be eligible to seek employment as a lecturer or an assistant professor in government colleges and universities.
He said that those, who completed PG degree or studying PG final year, can appear for the test. It would be held in 31 subjects in arts, science, and humanities streams. The examination would be held on September 11 at six regional centres — Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Guntur, Nellore, Anantapur, and Tirupati.
Member-secretary of APSET K. Srinivasa Rao said that over 65,000 candidates were expected to take the examination. “Candidates can submit online applications from June 30 and the last date for online submission is July 25.”
University Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao said that there would be no negative marking in the APSET. He said that the syllabus was prescribed by UGC and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for NET for Papers I (100 marks), II (100 marks) and III (200 marks).
While Paper I would be held in bilingual (English and Telugu), only certain subjects pertaining to papers II and III would be in bilingual. All the three papers would consist of objective type questions.
The registration fee for APSET-2016 category wise: general: Rs.1,000; BC: Rs.800; SC/ST/PH/VH: Rs.500. Registration for the examination would be through online application and fee can be paid through credit card or debit card or Net banking.
