Naval Ship Repair Yard Karwar invites applications from ITI qualified Indian citizens (both Male/ Female) for Apprenticeship training in the following designated trades for filling up 105 Vacancies for a period of 01 Year/ 06 Months at Dockyard Apprentices School, NSRY, Karwar as per the Apprentices Act 1961 (amended from time to time). Age Limit: Candidates should have completed 14 years and below 21 years of age as on 01 Apr 2018. Upper age limit of 21 years is reaxable for SC/ ST/ PwD’s/ Ex-Servicemen/ Wards of Ex-servicemen and other notified categories as per Govt. rules in force.


Stipend: As per Govt. of India notification. At present, selected candidates are paid 80 / 90 percent of minimum wage of semi-skilled workers as notified by the Govt. of Karnataka/NCVT guidelines (₹ 8320/- to ₹ 9360/- per month as on 01 Jul, 2017).

Educational Qualification:

(1) Candidate qualified in one / two year ITI (SCVT or NCVT) in respective trades only need to apply.

(2) Those who have already given ITI final exams and awaiting for results may also apply.

(3) Candidates scored above 50% marks in SSLC/ Marticulation/ Xth class or equivalent and above 65% marks in the ITI (SCVT or NCVT).

Physical Standards: Physical standards should be in accordance with the Apprentices Act, 1961 and should be satisfying minimum standards as mentioned below:-

For Male -> Height minimum – 150 cms, Weight minimum – 45 Kgs, Chest Expansion- 5 cms and Eye Sight 6/6 to 6/9 (6/9 corrected with glasses).

For Female -> Height minimum – 137 cms, Weight minimum – 25.4 Kgs and Eye sight 6/6 to 6/9 (6/9 corrected with glasses).

Candidates should be medically fit and external/ Internal organs normal. Medical examination shall be conducted at Karwar for the qualified candidates.

How to Apply: Interested eligible candidates are required to register online through NCVT MIS web portal (Apprenticeship Website). After registration,  the Candidates are to prepare an application on white paper furnishing candidates name, apprentice registration number, gender, trade applied for, Date of Birth, reservation category, marks obtained in SSLC/Matriculation & ITI, Aadhar number, contact number,

email id, with candidate signature and alongwith two copies of apprentice registration form & three coloured passport size photographs is to be forwarded to “The Officerin-Charge, Dockyard Apprentice School, NSRY, Naval Base PO, Karwar, Karnataka – 581308”. Last date for receipt of application at DAS, NSRY, Karwar within 30 days of publication of this notification in Employment Newspaper (i.e. Last date may be 06/11/2017).


Naval Ship Repair Yard, Karwar invites application from ITI qualified persons in 12 designated trades for filling up 67 Vacancies for enrollment for Apprenticeship training under Apprentices Act – 1961 read with Apprenticeship Rules 1992. Distribution of Vacancies:

For One Year Training -> Fitter – 09, Machinist – 06, Welder – 06, Electrician – 07, Instrument Mech – 03, Mechanic R&A/C – 05, Painter (G) – 02, Electronics Mechanic – 09.

For Two Year Training -> Plumber – 05, Carpenter – 05, Sheet Metal Worker – 02, Mechanical Diesel – 08.

Educational Qualifications: All candidates should be Matriculation pass / Std X pass with minimum of 50 % marks and ITI passed in relevant trade with aggregate of 65% marks.

Minimum Physical Standards: Height – 150 Cms, Weight – 45 Kgs., Chest – expansion 5 Cms, Eye sight – 6/6 to 6/9. Physical standards for physically handicapped person is as per Apprentices Act 1961 read in conjunction with Apprenticeship Rules 1992 regarding standard of physical fitness.

Commencement of Training: The Training for 2016-17 batch will commence from 03 Oct 2016.

Selection Process: Preliminary selection will be on the basis of marks obtained in Matric & ITI Examination. The candidates selected in the preliminary Merit list will be called for a written test tentatively on 26 July 2016. Candidates will be placed in the merit list on the basis of marks obtained in written examination, the result of which will be declared on same day and the Interview / medical test will be conducted on next following day. The written examination for candidates from Andaman & Nicobar Islands will be conducted at INS Jarawa, Port Blair. However, they are required to forward their applications to Karwar.
