Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy, Chennai invites applications for admission to BSMS /BAMS/BNYS/BUMS/BHMS Courses for the academic year 2017-18

Eligibility

Candidate should be a citizen of India

 

Nativity: Candidate should be a Native of Tamil Nadu. Except, for the candidates who have studied in a school in the State of Tamil Nadu continuously without break from 8th Standard to Plus Two, the other candidates should produce the Nativity Certificate in the prescribed format from the competent authority

 

The candidates who are the children of parent of Tamil Nadu origin but living in other States should also produce the Nativity certificate as mentioned above

 

Age Limit: Should have completed the age of Seventeen years on or before 31st December 2017 Evidence should be produced

 

Educational Qualifications

i) Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board / any other equivalent Board in one and the same attempt in the following group of subjects with the minimum eligible marks. A failure in examination reappearance/first appearance, in compartment in one or more subjects will be treated as an attempt

 

a) Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (or)

 

b) Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subject

 

ii) Language qualifications for BSMS / BUMS Courses

a) For BSMS Course: In addition to the minimum eligibility marks

 

1) The candidate should have studied in Tamil medium up to X Standard or Plus Two, or

 

2) The candidate should have studied Tamil as a subject up to X Standard, or Plus Two, or

 

3) The candidate must be prepared to pursue the study of Tamil Language as a subject during the First professional Course of BSMS course, to become eligible to take the other subjects exam of the BSMS course

 

b) For BUMS Course: In addition to the minimum eligibility marks

1) The Candidate should have studied in URDU Medium upto X Standard or Plus Two, or

 

2) The candidate should have passed Urdu/ Arabic / Persian as a subject up to X Standard or Plus Two, or

 

3) Should have passed the Adeeb-e-Fazil Examination or Entrance Examination of Afzal-Ul Ulama Examination of the University of Madras to be eligible to apply for the BUMS course on the date of submission of application

 

Minimum Eligibility Marks for B.S.M.S./B.A.M.S./B.N.Y.S./B.H.M.S Courses

i) Other Communities

a) Minimum of 50% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together

b) Minimum of 50% marks aggregate in Physics and Chemistry

 

ii) Backward Communities / BC (Muslim)

a) Minimum of 45% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together

b) Minimum of 45% marks aggregate in Physics and Chemistry

 

iii) Most Backward Classes and Denitrified Communities

a) Minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together

b) Minimum of 40% marks aggregate in Physics and Chemistry

 

iv) Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar, Scheduled Tribe

a) Minimum of 35% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together

b) Minimum of 35% marks aggregate in Physics and Chemistry

 

v) The candidates under Physically Challenged Category-(Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone)

 

OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DC should have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in each prescribed subject in the qualifying examination

 

Minimum Eligibility Marks for B.U.M.S Course

Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary Course (Academic) with Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology) or its equivalent examination

 

Seat Availability Details

Seats Reserved for Special Categories in Govt. Colleges – Seats earmarked for the Special Categories will be allotted following the Horizontal Reservation; the seats will be allotted as per the merit order in the concerned special category and those seats will be deducted in the concerned compartment (OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC/SC/SCA/ST) and the remaining seats will be allotted to the General Category

Application

Application Form and Prospectus will be available till 02nd August to 30th August 2017 on all working days from the following Government colleges from 10.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m

 

a) The Principal, Govt. Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli District

 

b) The Principal, Govt.Siddha Medical College, Chennai-106

 

c) The Principal, Govt. Unani Medical College, Chennai-106

 

d) The Principal, Govt. Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College, Chennai-106

 

e) The Principal, Govt. Homoeopathy Medical College, Thirumangalam, Madurai District

 

f) The Principal, Govt. Ayurveda Medical College, Kottar, Nagercoil, Kanya Kumari Dist.

 

Application forms and prospectus will not be issued from the Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy and office of the Selection Committee, Arumbakkam, Chennai-600106

 

Candidates can obtain the application either in person or by post on written requisition to the Principal of the above Government colleges duly enclosing a Crossed Demand Draft for Rs.500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) drawn in favour of Director of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, payable at Chennai obtained from anyone of the nationalized banks on or after 31st July 2017

 

Cost of Application

Common Application Form for BSMS/BAMS/BNYS/BUMS/BHMS: Rs.500/-

 

Application form for each Special Category: Rs.100/-

 

If the application is requested to be sent by post, candidate should enclose a requisition letter along with a self addressed cover (33 cm x 14 cm) duly affixing postal stamp to the value of Rs.70/- (Rupees Seventy only)

 

Candidates applying under Special Category should submit the Special Category application along with common application form for each special category subject to the maximum of three special categories. They should submit a Demand Draft for Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) drawn in favour of “Director of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy”, Chennai-600106

 

Completed application form with all relevant enclosures prescribed may be delivered, by Registered post / Courier service / speed post to reach: The Secretary, Selection Committee, Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, Arignar Anna Govt. Hospital of Indian Medicine Campus, Arumbakkam, Chennai-600106 before 31st August 2017 upto 05.00 pm
